Paula Sanz was born in Palma de Mallorca, Spain in 1994. In 2009 she began her first Bachelor of Music at the Conservatori Superior de Música de les Illes Balears with professors Agustín León Ara and José Manuel Álvarez Losada where she obtained in 2013 the Extraordinary Bachelor Award and the highest qualifications. She decided then to study in a different institution, so she moved to London and studied at the Royal College of Music with professors Yossi Zivoni and Gabrielle Lester, where she finished in July 2017 with First Class and the highest qualifications in violin, chamber music and conducting.
She has won competitions that have given her the opportunity to perform as a soloist with different orchestras. Paula is really interested in chamber music, she was a member of the Thaleia Quartet in London, with whom she participated in different courses and masterclasses and performed in well-known venues as the Wigmore Hall in London. Within her orchestral experience, it is important to highlight her role as concertmaster at the JONDE (National Youth Orchestra of Spain), at the National Youth Orchestra of Catalonia since 2013 and the different orchestras of the Royal College of Music. Paula is Principal Second Violin at the EUYO since 2017. She has collaborated with Spira mirabilis and in 2014, 2015 and 2016 she was a member of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra Academy. After having successfully passed the audition in September 2018, she is working this season 2018/2019 with the Orquestra de Cadaqués. These orchestras have given her the opportunity to work with prestigious conductors and soloists like Gordan Nikolic, Lorenza Borrani, Tasmin Little, Péter Eötvös, Xian Zhang, Gianandrea Noseda, Heinz Holliger, Jac van Steen, Iván Fischer, Daniel Harding and Bernard Haitink among others.
